The McLain Group represents a client, one of the nation’s largest producers of electrical energy, with an immediate need for a Station Engineer at a combined-cycle power plant.  The primary role of the Station Engineer is to support and improve the safe, reliable operation of the plant.  This includes developing PM programs, troubleshooting, and control system maintenance, managing OEM service bulletins, managing compliance inspections, providing outage planning support, planning for critical spare/obsolete parts and coordinating non-destructive testing (NDT) programs.  Our client offers excellent compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.


Provide engineering support in designated company area, or specific engineering discipline.  Provide technical direction to operations and maintenance.  Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.  Devises new approaches to problems encountered and develops engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards.  The incumbent is expected to provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed.

Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendations based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. Exhibits independence in evaluating, selecting and developing standard or well defined engineering, procedures and criteria to solve plant issues.  Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making complex adaptations and modifications.

The successful candidate must be willing to work in an industrial environment, with approximately 25-35% of their time spent performing field work including system troubleshooting and directing maintenance and operations activities.


Bachelor in Engineering.  Understanding of combined cycle power plants and plant control system.  Must be proficient in communicating to both craft labor and upper management.  GE7FA & Controls experience preferred.  Familiarity with GE Mark VI control system preferred.
