The McLain Group represents a client, with an immediate need for a VP/Director of Business Developmnet.  Our client is a fast paced company that is continuing to grow substantially with work in the natural gas, oil, and power industries.  The VP/Director of Business Development will be at the forefront of increasing our client’s market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships.  Our client employs qualified engineers, technicians, and craftspeople and continues to pursue fabrication and field work throughout the United States and internationally.


-Key member of the Business Development Team to further leverage existing relationships with nuclear development markets.

-Working knowledge of both field service and fabrication capabilities in order to represent the company effectively with potential clients.

-Expand upon current relationships and standing contracts with regionally and nationally based firms.

-Have direct sales contact with existing and potential clients to help increase the company’s market share.

-Expand current strong position in market to build additional market share of infrastructure and support work for clients.

-Lead the diversification of our services offered to the industrial and commercial sector.

-Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.

-Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.

-Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners’ needs and goals.

-Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.

-Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

-Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

-Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

-Estimating and scheduling knowledge to accurately project potential contracts.

-Other job-related duties as assigned.


-Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.

-Minimum of ten (10) years total construction/ general industry experience, of which at least three (3) years is within the Nuclear field.

-Proven track record of client development and strategic relationship capabilities.

-Leadership performance, collaboration and team building skills.

-Agile response to fast paced work environment and organizational change.

-Motivation, Prospecting, Presentation and Sales Skills.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

-Experience in multi-media applications.

-Self-motivated, innovative and hard-working individual who can handle changing priorities and multiple tasks.

-Must be a customer service oriented team player willing to assist colleagues and members of various department at all levels.

-Ability and willingness to travel 50%.
