Description:

The McLain Group represents a client with an immediate need for a commercial nuclear power plant Licensing Manager.  Our client is a leading provider of nuclear generated electrical power.  Our client offers an excellent compensation and benefits package.

Responsibilities:

Manage the daily activities of the Licensing organization. Direct activities required to provide licensing and regulatory compliance resources to support plant operations and to assure that plant operations are performed in accordance with applicable regulations and licensing bases documents. Serve as communications focal point between NRC and plant staff.

Assure new licensing and safety issues are identified, addressed and resolved to reduce the potential for licensing delays and avoidable plant shutdowns. Manage preparation and timely submittal of licensing documents required for maintaining the operating license and in support of other licensing actions. Provide assistance to engineering and operations staffs in the interpretation of NRC regulations and Technical Specifications. Develop, implement and maintain processes that assure information provided to the NRC is complete and accurate in all material respects.

Manage the evaluation and resolution of issues raised by NRC staff with the objective of ensuring violations or significant regulatory concerns are valid and resolved appropriately. Manage preparation of regulatory compliance submittals to the NRC. Support continued plant operation through the management of the reportability evaluation process. Support plant operability determinations. Manage support of NRC inspection team activities.

Requirements:

An engineering or technical degree and 10 years of nuclear power plant experience are required with 5 years supervisory experience desired.  Excellent knowledge of NRC regulatory requirements and processes. Demonstrated competencies in leadership, project management, decision making, team building and excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to manage in a highly stressful, time constraining, regulatory environment and to maintain a professional relationship with regulatory agencies. Prior experience in Licensing or Regulatory Compliance is preferred and possession of license certification or prior SRO license is desired.
