Description:

The McLain Group represents a client, a leader in the commercial nuclear power industry, with an immediate need for a Manager-Project Support.   The Manager-Project Support manages project cost analysts, schedulers, work planners, and other support personnel to deliver necessary support for strategic projects.  This support includes project controls functions:  Project Cost Estimating, Project Cost Monitoring and Control, Project Scheduling, Project Performance Reporting, Project Contract Administration, Project Management Staff Training and Qualification, and Project Outage Preparation through the Strategic Projects Division Readiness Coordinator. This position is responsible for ensuring support for strategic projects, such that projects are delivered with the expected performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, Scope, Schedule, and Cost.  Our client offers an excellent compensation and benefits package.

Responsibilities:

-Provide direction to project support personnel regarding project support duties for strategic projects.

-Prepare Order-of-Magnitude, Budgetary, and Definitive Project Cost Estimates for potential projects in supporting Business Case development and for approved projects.

-Develop and maintain assigned procedures governing strategic project support.

-Ensure that Projects Support positions are staffed with trained and qualified personnel to fulfill their respective job functions.

-Provide objective performance information to support monthly Strategic Projects Key Performance Reporting.Perform Project Cost Monitoring and Control functions in support of the project managers.

-Provide contract administration support for the project managers.

-Responsible for the preparation of work orders supporting project installation activities.

-Ensure that project managers and project support staff comply with procedural requirements and management expectations.

-Develop and maintain the training and qualifications program for strategic projects personnel.

-Responsible for projects installation preparations for outages through the Strategic Projects Division Readiness Coordinator.

-Manage the necessary change associated with the establishment of processes the meet excellence standards contained in INPO 09-002, Excellence in Nuclear Project Management.

-Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management.

Requirements:

This position requires a BS degree in engineering or technicial science and 15 years relevant experience, or a MS degree in engineering or technical science and 13 years relevant experience, or a PhD degree in engineering or technical science and 11 years relevant experience.

This position requires demonstrated leadership capability in project management with at least 10 years of nuclear project management experience.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute is required within 12 months of fulfilling this position.
