Description:

The McLain Group represents a client with an immediate need for a commercial nuclear power plant Design Engineering Manager.   The Design Engineering Manager develops stretch targets for multiple work groups and selects, develops, and coaches leaders and individual contributors.  Integrates best practices into operations and designs major processes within a functional area.  Keeps the plant design basis and configuration management program to support plant safety and equipment reliability.  Performs employee appraisals and assists in developing employees for assignments requiring increased knowledge and/or responsibility.  Provides consultation, advice, and problem analysis, to senior management as well as other individuals and organizations both within and outside the company.  Provides input into strategic planning.  Provides ongoing process review and improvement and provides a cross functional focus for work groups.

Responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for the functional and budget performance for the department as well as the development of its personnel.

• Managing all nuclear design engineering and/or design modification activities.

• Responsible for the operating plans and budgets of all department processes.

• Provides overall direction, and implementation of various process improvement tools and methodology that support the plant’s needs.

• Provides opportunities for continuous learning and development to organization employees and attracts and retains new talent to the organization.

• Also requires special focus on maintaining the Design Bases.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Science.  Minimum ten years of experience in nuclear power plant design including design and licensing bases control/ construction / operation or maintenance applicable Navy nuclear experience equally acceptable including experiences in project management.  Physical capability to work in the plant i.e. climb stairs, work in hot environment, work in radiation/contamination areas.  Knowledge of Federal Regulations 10CFR50 and applicable codes and standards.
