Description:

The McLain Group represents a client, a leader in the commercial nuclear power industry, with an immediate need for a Unit Outage Manager.  The Unit Outage Manager manages the unit outage work activities involving scheduling and coordination of modification, maintenance, and testing activities on plant systems and equipment to ensure work is adequate and is performed as scheduled in compliance external programmatic requirements.  Our client offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits and promotes the development and success of their employees.

Responsibilities:

-Coordinate with on-shift management and work groups to resolve outage scheduling problems and conflicts.

-Coordinate outage planning activities to prioritize, obtain needed personnel, attain material support, and provide organizational leadership to maintain outage work activities on schedule.

-Oversee outage screening of emerging work to determine if it should be in the outage scope.

-Oversee and review major schedule changes during the outage and coordinate appropriate risk assessments and impact reviews, to prevent the occurrence of adverse conditions and events during outage planning and performance.

-Ensure adequate shift turnover information is provided by all groups in outage control centers, to ensure oncoming personnel are cognizant of work progress and high risk evolutions.

-Coordinate the review, authorization, and implementation activities to obtain immediate attention to modification, maintenance, and surveillance activities on plant systems and equipment during outage preparation and execution.

-Direct critical path activities to resolve conflicts in schedule performance, procurement review, and material acquisitions and obtain appropriate management attention to major issues to meet the outage goals and schedule restart dates.

-Oversee outage historical files and compile outage critique information to attest to performance of quality related outage activities and to provide lessons learned for future outages.

-Direct and manage pre-outage planning and matrixed team efforts.

-Ensure budgetary controls for the unit outage are established and implemented, in accordance with pre-established goals.

-Direct and manage outage implementation for the unit, including fleet communications for outage performance.

Requirements:

– B.S. degree in engineering, scientific-related discipline or equivalent related experience.

- 10 years of power plant experience in areas such as maintenance, operations, engineering, work management, quality assurance, construction, of which a minimum of 8 years is nuclear experience; four years supervisory experience is required in a minimum of two of the disciplines above.

- Hold or have held an SRO license or certification is  highly recommended.
