Description:

Responsibilities:

Provide an “expert” level of consultation and complex problem solving associated with the applicable steam generating equipment (HRSG’s) to Plant Operations in areas such as pressure part design, repair, and interpretation of applicable ASME and NBIC codes.

Provide an “expert” interface with equipment OEM’s and third parties for discussion, consultation, problem solving and best maintenance practices on steam generating equipment.

Provide technical consultation and complex problem solving associated with the balance of plant CCGT equipment.

Develop an understanding of the Plant strategies and processes associated with Routine Maintenance, Condition Based Outage Process, and Plant Operational Excellence and apply technical knowledge to promote and assist the plants in attaining the goals and targets of these processes.

Develop the data and information necessary to construct and manage “fleet strategies” on major steam generating equipment (HRSG’s).  Work with other component experts inTechnical Supportto provide the information and data to support recommendations to the Technology VP’s on the condition of fleet equipment and maintenance and operating needs of the fleet.

Requirements:

Minimum requirement is BSME from an institution with a certified Engineering curriculum.  Other disciplines considered depending on experience of individual.

10 years of heavy industrial experience with steam power boilers / HRSG’s, pressure vessels and a working knowledge of the ASME and NBIC codes and their application in the design and repair of this equipment.

Experience considered applicable would be field service engineering and design experience with OEM’s, A/E firm experience, military experience such as Navy training, operations and maintenance experience with an electric utility company preferably with CCGT HRSG’s,  operations and maintenance experience with another heavy industry where similar equipment to utility equipment is used.

Expert level of technical consultation and complex problem solving skills associated with HRSG maintenance and industry issues associated with HRSG designs, tubing, metallurgy, etc.

Candidate needs to have knowledge and understanding of the ASME, NBIC and the jurisdictional requirements regarding design and welded repairs to boilers, pressure vessels and power piping. Candidate needs to have a understanding of welding procedures and welder qualification requirements in the repair of steam generating and associated equipment. Candidate needs to have a working knowledge of the National Board repair program regarding repairs to boilers and related components.        

Candidate should possess combined cycle power plant experience including familiarity with major equipment operation and maintenance of HRSG’s and associated balance of plant equipment.

Candidate needs to have an understanding of the thermal cycle of the power generation facility and how the applications of the steam generating equipment fit into and impacts the cycle.

Candidate needs to have knowledge and understanding of the engineering and design as well as the mechanical maintenance of the applicable equipment.

Candidate must have the necessary business and economic skills to provide decision making support to the plants and senior management of Fossil Generation.

Candidate must have the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to develop relationships with the customer, other Plant Support personnel, and Fossil Operations senior management which promote an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. 

Candidate must have the necessary computer skills to effectively use the corporate computer tools provided as our standard tool set and standard computer codes for complex analysis and problems solving.

Desired:

Advanced technical degree, MBA, and Professional Engineer registration.
