Description:

The McLain Group represents a client, a supplier and fabricator in the commercial nuclear power industry, with an immediate need for a Project Manager. Our client offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits and promotes the development and success of their employees.

Project Managers (PM’s) will be responsible for all aspects of project planning and movement, from the time we receive an actual order, to the time we have received payment on the related invoice. The PM will be the direct contact person to whom anyone, inside or outside of the facility, will know to reach out to for any and all project inquiries/updates. Planning, organizing, leading and controlling are essential duties of a PM. To be successful it’s important to know some of the many expectations that go with that responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Know the customer contract thoroughly. The PM will be expected to know this contract better than anyone else at the facility.
  • Develop a contract compliance matrix to identify gaps or errors in the contract document, providing a baseline for measuring performance as it progresses, and serving as a clear roadmap during the close-out phase.
  • Develop & manage the project schedule to coordinate customer progress updates, including milestone achievements.
  • Keep the customer informed of project status, setbacks, and actions planned to correct the situation.
  • Be completely aware of both contractual and other consequences related to late deliverables. Know the associated timelines and keep them in sight. Alert team members and management far in advance of that becoming a reality.
  • PM’s will be provided a BOM by the Engineering Team. It’s extremely important to have a clear understanding of the material types and grades being ordered, as well as the applicable specifications, code requirements, safety class, etc…
  • Provide RFQ’s to buyerd for material and/or service requests.
  • Utilize the numerous system resources in the development and maintenance of schedules. Work closely with Operations to avoid scheduling conflicts and to confirm available resources.
  • Control costs wherever possible for the project. Contribution Margin needs to be monitored and controlled.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Engineering or Project Management
  • 1-5 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A passion to begin a career in the unique Nuclear Power Industry.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents of a technical nature.
  • Ability to respond effectively to customer inquiries or complaints.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects of varying complexity.
  • Participate in employee training exercises and skills development      opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs. (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Project and Outlook)
  • Ability to utilize available resources effectively to solve problems.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-Directed and highly organized.
