Description:

This individual will work as a company expert in the area of welding, fabrication, materials and nondestructive testing. They will support the Welding Programs daily activities and provide multiple plant organizations welding engineering and nondestructive consulting services and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure strict conformance to codes, ASME B&PV Sec. II, III, IV, VIII, IX, and XI, AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, ASME B31.1, and ASME B31.3
  • Monitor applicable regulatory requirements and communicate openly with NRC
  • Qualify and generate PQRs and WPSs in compliance with ASME B&PV Code Sec. III, and IX
  • Oversee the test, qualification, and training of welders in SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, and Brazing according to AWS D1.1 and ASME Sec. IX
  • Control and maintain WPQ’s in accordance with AWS D1.1 and ASME Sec. IX
  • Review Weld Data Sheets and weld maps for each Work Order, assuring correct WPS, code, and standards are adhered to for each job
  • Provide welding expertise and resolution for welding and code related problems, collaborating with Design Engineers, Procurement, Q/C, and Licensing departments
  • Determine welding program monetary needs, obtain cost estimates, create proposal, and present to site management for consideration
  • Work with NDE Technicians to review test data and identify ways to correct issues and reduce production defects
  • Update and revise Entergy and/or station procedures to ensure compliance with latest codes and standards, and developing new procedures as required.
  • Execute welding activities during Refueling Outages
  • Assist Corporate Welding Engineer with development of Entergy Fleet Welding Program including writing/revising procedures, converting WPS’s, and creating training material
  • Manage and implement additional programs as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in welding engineering or other engineering specialties or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working as a welding engineer, with a minimum of 2 years experience working on licensed nuclear facilities, fossil/hydrogeneration power plants or gas transmission pipelines.

Desired:

  • Candidate shall have experience in developing and qualifying welding procedures and performing welder qualifications and managing a company’s welding program.
  • Candidate shall be familiar with most common arc welding processes (as a minimum GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW), brazing and soldering and knowledgeable in orbital machine welding systems such as Arc Machines, Liburdi Dimetrics, or similar equipment.
  • Candidate shall be familiar with most common NDE methods such as VT, PT, MT, UT and RT and shall have some experience interpreting radiographic images.
  • Experience working as a certified NDE Level II or III either supporting nondestructive testing operations or performing actual testing.
  • Candidate shall have experience in developing repairs for piping and vessels.
  • Candidate must be familiar with Construction and Fabrication Codes, specifically ASME B&PV Sections III, IX and XI, ASME B31.1 and AWS D1.1.
  • Current AWS CWI certification
  • Willingness to work additional time to support plant outages and field work
  • Good writing skills and the ability to generate company procedures, specifications and guidelines relating to welding, Good communication skills and team work, Ability to handle and manage multiple projects, Proficient in MS Office Software
