Description:

The McLain Group represents a client with an immediate need for a Director of Financial Oversight.

This position will report to the Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO)-Vice President and will provide general direction to professional, technical, consultants, contractors and administrative support staff in budgetary, financial and the related regulatory matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy / completeness / validity of actual and forecasted costs
  • Oversight of financial planning
  • Oversee updating of the Cost Estimate (CE)
  • Ensure costs are recorded and reported
  • Direct and participate in the development and implementation of protocols, procedures and controls on financial matters
  • Develop and implement financial plans and systems, including risk management measures to ensure effective use of resources
  • Direct and supervise the preparation of short term and long term financial forecasts
  • Direct and supervise the preparation of a variety of reports and regulatory filings in support company and co-owners business needs
  • Direct and coordinate internal and external auditing activities
  • Provide support in the resolution of contract disputes and change orders
  • Serve as expert witness in regulatory proceedings if requested
  • Support the Co-Participants by representing company with outside agencies and organizations regarding financial matters
  • Supervise the selection, and activities, of professional consultants, advisors and contractors associated with financial matters
  • Review and participate in advocacy activities with local, state and federal officials/agencies to protect the interest of company co-owners related to financial matters
  • Oversee the applicable committees, e.g. Fiscal Committee and the Budget Committee
  • Serve as a liaison with co-owners on financial mattersand provide support to fulfill co-owners special requirements as applicable
  • Serve as a liaison with corporate to ensure effective delivery of services by corporate organizational units to regarding financial matters
  • Oversee and approve payment of invoices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10 years’ experience as a financial leader
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the status of financial affairs to high-level executive leaders (e.g. Co-Owners, Company Officers, and Company Board of Directors).
  • Demonstrated experience in financial and budget reporting for large projects (e.g. > $0.5B), such as construction-type projects

Desired:

  • 5 years in an executive/leadership capacity
  • MBA, CPA, CMA and/or other professional certifications/advanced degrees
  • Utility experience
  • Relevant experience in the decommissioning of commercial nuclear power plants
  • Working  knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations
