The McLain Group represents a client, a leader in the commercial nuclear power industry, with an immediate need for a commercial Nuclear Power Plant Manager.  Our client offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits and promotes the development and success of their employees.

The Plant Manager functionally manages the Nuclear Power Plant and support organizations of approximately 500-1000 MWs capacity and 400-500 diverse and skilled employees.   Leads and prioritizes the management team including Maintenance, Operations, Radiation Protection, and Outage and Work Management ensuring all goals are aligned with the plant operating plan and the strategic plan of the company maximizing corporate profitability within all legal requirements.


  • Accountable for operating and financial results of organization. Control quantity, quality, and timeliness of product/work output to achieve corporate goals.
  • Provides strategic direction, leadership and support to the organization by developing departmental goals and objectives that will provide best in class Nuclear Operations.
  • Lead change and continuous improvement effects through partnering resulting in positive business outcome.
  • Lead, train and maintain proficient responsible staff and provide opportunities for continuous learning and development to organization.
  • Represent the Company in dealing with outside agencies, individuals, corporations, legislative bodies, and regulatory organizations.
  • Provide consultation, expert advice, problem analysis to Senior Management, as well as other individuals and organizations both within and outside the company.
  • Evaluate performance of individuals and groups both inside and outside the company and collaborate to resolve conflicts be they represented or non-represented entities.
  • Formulate and manage budgets.  Approve major contracts and purchases.


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering with 10 years broad Power Plant experience or equivalent industrial experience and a minimum of 3 years 2nd level supervisory experience.
  • Three of those required 10 years must be Nuclear Power Plant experience.
  • Ability to effectively lead change management initiatives.
  • Leadership and communication skills to build consensus, gain cooperation and support in accomplishing organization and corporate goals and initiatives.
  • Must successfully demonstrate good Business Acumen, Communication skills, Cost Consciousness, Decision Making, Delegation, Diversity, Ethics, Interpersonal Skills, Leadership, Managing Performance, People Development, People Management and Visionary Leadership
