Description:

The McLain Group represents a client, a leader in the commercial nuclear power industry, with an immediate need for a nuclear power plant Director, Nuclear Maintenance.  Our client offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits and promotes the development and success of their employees.

The Director, Nuclear Maintenance directs all activities related to nuclear plant maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, operating policies and principles, nuclear standards for nuclear safety, employee safety, and environmental protection. Has oversight for 8 Superintendents and 30 Supervisors with a total workforce of 200, including represented and non-represented personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the maintenance of the station to ensure that the Maintenance department’s performance is consistent with specified policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  •  Provides strategic direction, leadership and support to the Maintenance organization by developing departmental goals and objectives that will provide best in class maintenance services and support to assist plant in providing safe and reliable nuclear power generation.
  • Implements the necessary nuclear power plant management systems to establish and maintain continuity in all plant activities.
  • Manages costs within approved budget and continuously strives for additional effectiveness and methods to control costs and reduce budget on an annual basis.
  • Develops programs and practices that instill in personnel the highest standards of performance and attention to detail.
  • Oversees the Maintenance accredited training program in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the National Academy of Nuclear Training, ensuring workforce is maintained and properly trained.
  • Maintains a workforce that is fully trained and qualified and possesses necessary technical skills to successfully perform assigned duties.

Requirements:

  •  High School degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, science or equivalent field preferred.
  • Ten years nuclear power plant experience within work control, maintenance, engineering or operations.
  • Five years supervisory experience.
  • Currently hold or previously held an SRO license preferred.
  • Must successfully demonstrate good Business Acumen, Communication skills, Cost Consciousness, Decision Making, Delegation, Diversity, Ethics, Interpersonal Skills, Leadership, Managing Performance, People Development, People Management and Visionary Leadership
